‘This is our Time’ is a global telecommunications project for youth and by youth. Time Project celebrates its seventeenth anniversary in 2012. 17 years of Youth connecting with Youth – this year on Time Day May 18th 2012.
A 24 hour learning marathon, (Time Day May 18th 2012) from the time the sun rises in the East and sets in the West for one day the youth of the world connect through TIME PROJECT. TIME offers a wide variety of activities such as video conferencing, the online research game ‘Unite the Nations’, a Model United Nations VC activity, a case study in community sustainability, and Classroom Twinning – a Blogging Activity. Over the years well over 300 schools and youth groups from 99 countries have participated in the Time Project all on a single day – Time Day.
During Time 2012 the Time participants from around the globe will learn about the Millennium Development Goals with a special focus on MDG 4 ‘Reduce Child Mortality Rates’ and MDG 8 ‘Develop a global partnership for development’. This year’s topics are child labour, animal experimentation, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender rights, youth violence and a global development through youth action and the arts.
“This is our Time” was originally initiated for the UNESCO Associated Schools Project and is organized by Time Project Headquarters in Canada in cooperation with Taking It Global whose mission is to empower youth to understand and act on the world’s greatest challenges.
Travel the world without packing your suitcase! Grab the opportunity to learn from and about other young people! Get involved! Be an ambassador!
