Megaconference Jr. 2013
MARK YOUR CALENDARS for May 2, 2013!!
Megaconference Jr., now in its 10th year, is a FREE international program designed to give students in elementary through secondary schools around the world the opportunity to communicate, collaborate and contribute to each other’s learning in real time, using advanced multi-point video conferencing technology.
Megaconference Jr. addresses local and national curriculum standards in multiple subject areas. It will also help students and teachers develop the capacity to effectively utilize high-speed networks, videoconferencing and other emerging technologies to enhance learning experiences.
Who Can Participate
Megaconference Jr. is open to K-20 classrooms (students ages 5-23) all around the world. It is designed to be “student-driven” thus we encourage students to do the planning and presenting on their own, with support from their teachers, coach and/or experts in the field to help them through the process.
Internet2 University members, RONs, SEGPs, international MoU partners and appropriate governmental and educational agencies will be involved in providing high speed connectivity, videoconferencing facilities, technical support and other services to the K-12 participants.
This year’s event will run from 6:00 AM – 7:00 PM EDT (UTC -4). The 13 hour duration will make it possible for schools from many time zones to participate.
How You Can Participate
There are several ways schools around the world can participate.
VJ Teams – Schools can apply to be a VJ team. VJ teams help to moderate the event by introducing each session/event during the day. VJ teams sign up for a specific block of time to run. Presenting Site – Schools can submit a presentation proposal for consideration as part of the schedule of the day. Presentations can be on any topic and for any grade range. Presentations that incorporate additional participating sites and encourage interactivity are strongly encouraged. To submit a presentation, please first Register and then use the Proposal Form to submit your proposal.
